Barangay Cunig

Barangay Cunig forms part of Gattaran, a municipality in Cagayan, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Cunig had a population of 804. This made it the 36th largest of 50 barangays in Gattaran by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cunig accounted for approximately 1.37% of the total population of Gattaran, which stood at 58,874 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Cunig moving from 762 residents to 804 residents, an intercensal change of +5.5%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Cunig as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Gattaran is a municipality comprising 50 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cunig, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cagayan, which contains 820 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Cunig ranks 604th by 2020 population.
