Barangay Matangad

Barangay Matangad is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Gitagum, located in the province of Misamis Oriental, in the Northern Mindanao region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Matangad had a population of 4,021. This made it the 1st largest of 11 barangays in Gitagum by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Matangad accounted for approximately 22.44% of the total population of Gitagum, which stood at 17,920 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Matangad moving from 3,386 residents to 4,021 residents, an intercensal change of +18.8%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Matangad is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
