Barangay San Agustin

Barangay San Agustin is a very small barangay in the municipality of Hilongos, located in the province of Leyte, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay San Agustin had a population of 266. This made it the 50th largest of 51 barangays in Hilongos by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay San Agustin accounted for approximately 0.41% of the total population of Hilongos, which stood at 64,514 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay San Agustin moving from 307 residents to 266 residents, an intercensal change of -13.4%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay San Agustin as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
