Barangay Pilar

Barangay Pilar is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Hinigaran, located in the province of Negros Occidental, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Pilar had a population of 4,785. This made it the 5th largest of 24 barangays in Hinigaran by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Pilar accounted for approximately 5.38% of the total population of Hinigaran, which stood at 88,909 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Pilar moving from 4,600 residents to 4,785 residents, an intercensal change of +4.0%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Pilar is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Hinigaran is a municipality comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Pilar, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
