Barangay Pangi

Situated in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, Barangay Pangi is one of 28 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Pangi had a population of 4,549. This made it the 8th largest of 28 barangays in Ipil by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Pangi accounted for approximately 5.09% of the total population of Ipil, which stood at 89,401 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Pangi changed from 2,967 to 4,549, a shift of +53.3% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Ipil. Barangay Pangi is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Ipil is a municipality comprising 28 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Pangi, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Zamboanga Sibugay, which contains 389 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Pangi ranks 20th by 2020 population. Zamboanga Sibugay is classified as a 2nd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Like every Philippine barangay, Barangay Pangi is led by an elected Punong Barangay (barangay captain) supported by seven Sangguniang Barangay members (kagawads), an SK Chairperson, a Barangay Secretary, and a Barangay Treasurer. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
