Barangay Ampucao

Barangay Ampucao is a large barangay in the municipality of Itogon, located in the province of Benguet, in the CAR region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Ampucao had a population of 10,924. This made it the 1st largest of 9 barangays in Itogon by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Ampucao accounted for approximately 17.76% of the total population of Itogon, which stood at 61,498 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 11,118 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 10,924 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -1.7%, consistent with a broadly stable settlement. Barangay Ampucao is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Itogon is a municipality comprising 9 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Ampucao, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Benguet, which contains 269 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Ampucao ranks 4th by 2020 population. Benguet is classified as a 2nd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay Ampucao is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
