Barangay No. 8 (Pob.)

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay No. 8 (Pob.) is one of the administrative divisions of Jiabong in Samar, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay No. 8 (Pob.) had a population of 2,344. This made it the 1st largest of 34 barangays in Jiabong by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay No. 8 (Pob.) accounted for approximately 12.21% of the total population of Jiabong, which stood at 19,205 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,193 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,344 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +6.9%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay No. 8 (Pob.) as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Jiabong is a municipality comprising 34 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay No. 8 (Pob.), including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
