Situated in Jimenez, Misamis Occidental, Barangay Taraka (Pob.) is one of 24 barangays that make up the municipality within Northern Mindanao.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Taraka (Pob.) had a population of 1,481. This made it the 8th largest of 24 barangays in Jimenez by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Taraka (Pob.) accounted for approximately 5.12% of the total population of Jimenez, which stood at 28,909 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,359 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,481 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +9.0%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Taraka (Pob.) as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
