Barangay Malinas

Barangay Malinas is a small barangay in the municipality of Kapatagan, located in the province of Lanao Del Norte, in the Northern Mindanao region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Malinas had a population of 834. This made it the 25th largest of 33 barangays in Kapatagan by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Malinas accounted for approximately 1.33% of the total population of Kapatagan, which stood at 62,571 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Malinas moving from 726 residents to 834 residents, an intercensal change of +14.9%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Malinas is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Kapatagan is a municipality comprising 33 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Malinas, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Lanao Del Norte, which contains 506 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Malinas ranks 327th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
