Barangay Balacson

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Balacson is one of the administrative divisions of Kawayan in Biliran, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Balacson had a population of 888. This made it the 11th largest of 20 barangays in Kawayan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Balacson accounted for approximately 4.34% of the total population of Kawayan, which stood at 20,455 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Balacson moving from 868 residents to 888 residents, an intercensal change of +2.3%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Balacson is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Kawayan is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Balacson, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
