Barangay Bulalacao

Situated in Kawayan, Biliran, Barangay Bulalacao is one of 20 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bulalacao had a population of 864. This made it the 12th largest of 20 barangays in Kawayan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bulalacao accounted for approximately 4.22% of the total population of Kawayan, which stood at 20,455 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Bulalacao moving from 842 residents to 864 residents, an intercensal change of +2.6%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Bulalacao is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Kawayan is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bulalacao, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
