Barangay Cacao

Situated in La Paz, Leyte, Barangay Cacao is one of 35 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Cacao had a population of 250. This made it the 30th largest of 35 barangays in La Paz by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cacao accounted for approximately 1.30% of the total population of La Paz, which stood at 19,174 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Cacao moving from 259 residents to 250 residents, an intercensal change of -3.5%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Cacao is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

La Paz is a municipality comprising 35 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cacao, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
