Barangay Udangan

Barangay Udangan forms part of La Paz, a municipality in Abra, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Udangan had a population of 558. This made it the 12th largest of 12 barangays in La Paz by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Udangan accounted for approximately 3.38% of the total population of La Paz, which stood at 16,493 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 501 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 558 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +11.4%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Udangan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

La Paz is a municipality comprising 12 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Udangan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Abra, which contains 303 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Udangan ranks 189th by 2020 population.
