Barangay Tawagan Norte

Barangay Tawagan Norte forms part of Labangan, a municipality in Zamboanga Del Sur, and is classified as a mid-sized barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Tawagan Norte had a population of 3,201. This made it the 2nd largest of 25 barangays in Labangan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tawagan Norte accounted for approximately 7.23% of the total population of Labangan, which stood at 44,262 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,841 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 3,201 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +12.7%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Tawagan Norte is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Labangan is a municipality comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Tawagan Norte, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Zamboanga Del Sur, which contains 779 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Tawagan Norte ranks 53rd by 2020 population. Barangay Tawagan Norte is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
