Barangay Caninguan

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Caninguan is one of the administrative divisions of Lambunao in Iloilo, Western Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Caninguan had a population of 1,731. This made it the 13th largest of 73 barangays in Lambunao by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Caninguan accounted for approximately 2.13% of the total population of Lambunao, which stood at 81,236 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Caninguan moving from 1,615 residents to 1,731 residents, an intercensal change of +7.2%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Caninguan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Lambunao is a municipality comprising 73 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Caninguan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
