Barangay Pakwan

Barangay Pakwan is a small barangay in the municipality of Lanuza, located in the province of Surigao Del Sur, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Pakwan had a population of 1,078. This made it the 6th largest of 13 barangays in Lanuza by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Pakwan accounted for approximately 7.90% of the total population of Lanuza, which stood at 13,642 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Pakwan moving from 1,042 residents to 1,078 residents, an intercensal change of +3.5%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Pakwan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Lanuza is a municipality comprising 13 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Pakwan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
