Barangay Ambacon

Situated in Las Nieves, Agusan Del Norte, Barangay Ambacon is one of 20 barangays that make up the municipality within Caraga.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Ambacon had a population of 1,386. This made it the 10th largest of 20 barangays in Las Nieves by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Ambacon accounted for approximately 4.58% of the total population of Las Nieves, which stood at 30,240 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Ambacon changed from 1,395 to 1,386, a shift of -0.6% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with broadly stable populations in Las Nieves. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Ambacon as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Las Nieves is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Ambacon, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
