Barangay Himocdongon

Situated in Mabinay, Negros Oriental, Barangay Himocdongon is one of 32 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Himocdongon had a population of 2,855. This made it the 12th largest of 32 barangays in Mabinay by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Himocdongon accounted for approximately 3.44% of the total population of Mabinay, which stood at 82,953 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Himocdongon changed from 2,597 to 2,855, a shift of +9.9% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Mabinay. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Himocdongon as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Mabinay is a municipality comprising 32 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Himocdongon, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
