Barangay Sta. Maria

Situated in Macabebe, Pampanga, Barangay Sta. Maria is one of 25 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Luzon.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Sta. Maria had a population of 5,128. This made it the 3rd largest of 25 barangays in Macabebe by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Sta. Maria accounted for approximately 6.56% of the total population of Macabebe, which stood at 78,151 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Sta. Maria changed from 5,756 to 5,128, a shift of -10.9% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Macabebe. Barangay Sta. Maria is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Macabebe is a municipality comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Sta. Maria, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Pampanga, which contains 538 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Sta. Maria ranks 143rd by 2020 population. Maria is led by an elected Punong Barangay (barangay captain) supported by seven Sangguniang Barangay members (kagawads), an SK Chairperson, a Barangay Secretary, and a Barangay Treasurer. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
