Barangay Bunakan

Barangay Bunakan is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Madridejos, located in the province of Cebu, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Bunakan had a population of 2,139. This made it the 13th largest of 14 barangays in Madridejos by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bunakan accounted for approximately 5.09% of the total population of Madridejos, which stood at 42,039 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Bunakan moving from 1,888 residents to 2,139 residents, an intercensal change of +13.3%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Bunakan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
