Barangay Kaongkod

Barangay Kaongkod forms part of Madridejos, a municipality in Cebu, and is classified as a mid-sized barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Kaongkod had a population of 4,028. This made it the 2nd largest of 14 barangays in Madridejos by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Kaongkod accounted for approximately 9.58% of the total population of Madridejos, which stood at 42,039 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Kaongkod moving from 3,454 residents to 4,028 residents, an intercensal change of +16.6%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Kaongkod as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Madridejos is a municipality comprising 14 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Kaongkod, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
