Situated in Magpet, Cotabato, Barangay Owas is one of 32 barangays that make up the municipality within SOCCSKSARGEN.

This made it the 30th largest of 32 barangays in Magpet by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Owas accounted for approximately 1.43% of the total population of Magpet, which stood at 53,800 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Owas changed from 705 to 772, a shift of +9.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Magpet. Barangay Owas is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
