Barangay Panalaban

Situated in Majayjay, Laguna, Barangay Panalaban is one of 40 barangays that make up the municipality within CALABARZON.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Panalaban had a population of 67. This made it the 38th largest of 40 barangays in Majayjay by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Panalaban accounted for approximately 0.24% of the total population of Majayjay, which stood at 27,893 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 302 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 67 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -77.8%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Panalaban is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Majayjay is a municipality comprising 40 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Panalaban, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Laguna, which contains 681 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Panalaban ranks 679th by 2020 population.
