Barangay Tanawan

Barangay Tanawan is a very small barangay in the municipality of Majayjay, located in the province of Laguna, in the CALABARZON region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Tanawan had a population of 85. This made it the 34th largest of 40 barangays in Majayjay by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tanawan accounted for approximately 0.30% of the total population of Majayjay, which stood at 27,893 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Tanawan moving from 275 residents to 85 residents, an intercensal change of -69.1%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Tanawan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Majayjay is a municipality comprising 40 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Tanawan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
