Barangay Montañeza

Barangay Montañeza forms part of Malabuyoc, a municipality in Cebu, and is classified as a mid-sized barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Montañeza had a population of 3,212. This made it the 1st largest of 14 barangays in Malabuyoc by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Montañeza accounted for approximately 16.25% of the total population of Malabuyoc, which stood at 19,770 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 3,229 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 3,212 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -0.5%, consistent with a broadly stable settlement. Barangay Montañeza is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Malabuyoc is a municipality comprising 14 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Montañeza, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
