Barangay Balaas

Barangay Balaas forms part of Manjuyod, a municipality in Negros Oriental, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Balaas had a population of 1,004. This made it the 22nd largest of 27 barangays in Manjuyod by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Balaas accounted for approximately 2.24% of the total population of Manjuyod, which stood at 44,799 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 845 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,004 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +18.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Balaas as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Manjuyod is a municipality comprising 27 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Balaas, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Oriental, which contains 557 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Balaas ranks 458th by 2020 population.
