Barangay Legaspi

Barangay Legaspi is a small barangay in the municipality of Marabut, located in the province of Samar, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Legaspi had a population of 1,104. This made it the 4th largest of 24 barangays in Marabut by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Legaspi accounted for approximately 6.19% of the total population of Marabut, which stood at 17,842 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Legaspi moving from 977 residents to 1,104 residents, an intercensal change of +13.0%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Legaspi as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Marabut is a municipality comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Legaspi, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
