Situated in Margosatubig, Zamboanga Del Sur, Barangay Poblacion is one of 17 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 15,860. This made it the 1st largest of 17 barangays in Margosatubig by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 41.02% of the total population of Margosatubig, which stood at 38,660 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Poblacion moving from 14,981 residents to 15,860 residents, an intercensal change of +5.9%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.
