Barangay Canipay Sur

Barangay Canipay Sur is a small barangay in the municipality of Midsalip, located in the province of Zamboanga Del Sur, in the Zamboanga Peninsula region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Canipay Sur had a population of 908. This made it the 17th largest of 33 barangays in Midsalip by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Canipay Sur accounted for approximately 2.69% of the total population of Midsalip, which stood at 33,711 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Canipay Sur moving from 810 residents to 908 residents, an intercensal change of +12.1%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Canipay Sur as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
