Situated in Midsayap, Cotabato, Barangay Malamote is one of 57 barangays that make up the municipality within SOCCSKSARGEN.

This made it the 25th largest of 57 barangays in Midsayap by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Malamote accounted for approximately 1.38% of the total population of Midsayap, which stood at 165,376 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,946 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,276 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +17.0%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Malamote as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Midsayap is a municipality comprising 57 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Malamote, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
