Barangay Bangad

Classified as a large barangay, Barangay Bangad is one of the administrative divisions of Milagros in Masbate, Bicol Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bangad had a population of 5,033. This made it the 1st largest of 27 barangays in Milagros by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bangad accounted for approximately 8.75% of the total population of Milagros, which stood at 57,538 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Bangad moving from 4,269 residents to 5,033 residents, an intercensal change of +17.9%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Bangad is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Milagros is a municipality comprising 27 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bangad, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Masbate, which contains 550 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Bangad ranks 13th by 2020 population. Like every Philippine barangay, Barangay Bangad is led by an elected Punong Barangay (barangay captain) supported by seven Sangguniang Barangay members (kagawads), an SK Chairperson, a Barangay Secretary, and a Barangay Treasurer. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
