Barangay Patabog forms part of Mulanay, a municipality in Quezon, and is classified as a mid-sized barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Patabog had a population of 3,562. This made it the 6th largest of 28 barangays in Mulanay by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Patabog accounted for approximately 6.41% of the total population of Mulanay, which stood at 55,576 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Patabog moving from 3,361 residents to 3,562 residents, an intercensal change of +6.0%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Patabog as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Mulanay is a municipality comprising 28 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Patabog, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Quezon, which contains 1,242 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Patabog ranks 130th by 2020 population.
