Barangay Banca-banca forms part of Nagcarlan, a municipality in Laguna, and is classified as a small barangay.

This made it the 19th largest of 52 barangays in Nagcarlan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Banca-banca accounted for approximately 2.15% of the total population of Nagcarlan, which stood at 64,866 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Banca-banca changed from 1,487 to 1,394, a shift of -6.3% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Nagcarlan. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Banca-banca as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Nagcarlan is a municipality comprising 52 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Banca-banca, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
