Situated in Nagcarlan, Laguna, Barangay Buboy is one of 52 barangays that make up the municipality within CALABARZON.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Buboy had a population of 1,576. This made it the 15th largest of 52 barangays in Nagcarlan by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Buboy accounted for approximately 2.43% of the total population of Nagcarlan, which stood at 64,866 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Buboy changed from 1,362 to 1,576, a shift of +15.7% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Nagcarlan. Barangay Buboy is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Nagcarlan is a municipality comprising 52 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Buboy, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
