Barangay Balingasag

Situated in Oras, Eastern Samar, Barangay Balingasag is one of 42 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Balingasag had a population of 575. This made it the 25th largest of 42 barangays in Oras by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Balingasag accounted for approximately 1.54% of the total population of Oras, which stood at 37,451 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 594 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 575 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -3.2%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Balingasag as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Oras is a municipality comprising 42 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Balingasag, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
