Barangay Bato

Situated in Oras, Eastern Samar, Barangay Bato is one of 42 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Bato had a population of 279. This made it the 40th largest of 42 barangays in Oras by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bato accounted for approximately 0.74% of the total population of Oras, which stood at 37,451 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 241 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 279 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +15.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Bato as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Oras is a municipality comprising 42 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bato, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Eastern Samar, which contains 597 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Bato ranks 514th by 2020 population.
