Barangay Marikit

Barangay Marikit is a small barangay in the municipality of Paluan, located in the province of Occidental Mindoro, in the MIMAROPA Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Marikit had a population of 1,850. This made it the 5th largest of 12 barangays in Paluan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Marikit accounted for approximately 9.96% of the total population of Paluan, which stood at 18,566 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Marikit moving from 1,596 residents to 1,850 residents, an intercensal change of +15.9%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Marikit is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Paluan is a municipality comprising 12 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Marikit, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
