Barangay Babaguan

Barangay Babaguan is a very small barangay in the municipality of Panganiban, located in the province of Catanduanes, in the Bicol Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Babaguan had a population of 149. This made it the 23rd largest of 23 barangays in Panganiban by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Babaguan accounted for approximately 1.53% of the total population of Panganiban, which stood at 9,713 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Babaguan moving from 167 residents to 149 residents, an intercensal change of -10.8%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Babaguan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Panganiban is a municipality comprising 23 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Babaguan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Catanduanes, which contains 315 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Babaguan ranks 310th by 2020 population. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
