Barangay Balatucan

Situated in Panitan, Capiz, Barangay Balatucan is one of 26 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Balatucan had a population of 1,847. This made it the 6th largest of 26 barangays in Panitan by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Balatucan accounted for approximately 4.34% of the total population of Panitan, which stood at 42,565 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,848 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,847 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -0.1%, consistent with a broadly stable settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Balatucan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Panitan is a municipality comprising 26 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Balatucan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
