Barangay Banga-an

Barangay Banga-an forms part of Panitan, a municipality in Capiz, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Banga-an had a population of 1,128. This made it the 21st largest of 26 barangays in Panitan by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Banga-an accounted for approximately 2.65% of the total population of Panitan, which stood at 42,565 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 973 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,128 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +15.9%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Banga-an as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Panitan is a municipality comprising 26 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Banga-an, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Capiz, which contains 473 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Banga-an ranks 284th by 2020 population. Capiz is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.
