Barangay Nanan

Situated in Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay, Barangay Nanan is one of 29 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Nanan had a population of 908. This made it the 12th largest of 29 barangays in Payao by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Nanan accounted for approximately 2.60% of the total population of Payao, which stood at 34,952 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Nanan moving from 920 residents to 908 residents, an intercensal change of -1.3%. The trajectory indicates a broadly stable community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Nanan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
