Barangay Poblacion South

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Poblacion South is one of the administrative divisions of Piñan in Zamboanga Del Norte, Zamboanga Peninsula, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion South had a population of 1,888. This made it the 2nd largest of 22 barangays in Piñan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion South accounted for approximately 9.34% of the total population of Piñan, which stood at 20,221 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Poblacion South changed from 1,717 to 1,888, a shift of +10.0% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Piñan. Barangay Poblacion South is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Piñan is a municipality comprising 22 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion South, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
