Barangay Lower Poblacion

Barangay Lower Poblacion is a small barangay in the municipality of Pilar, located in the province of Cebu, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Lower Poblacion had a population of 826. This made it the 8th largest of 13 barangays in Pilar by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Lower Poblacion accounted for approximately 6.60% of the total population of Pilar, which stood at 12,506 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 745 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 826 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +10.9%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Lower Poblacion is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Pilar is a municipality comprising 13 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Lower Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
