Barangay Wakas South

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Wakas South is one of the administrative divisions of Pilar in Bataan, Central Luzon, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Wakas South had a population of 1,461. This made it the 11th largest of 19 barangays in Pilar by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Wakas South accounted for approximately 3.16% of the total population of Pilar, which stood at 46,239 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,616 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,461 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -9.6%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Wakas South is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Pilar is a municipality comprising 19 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Wakas South, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Bataan, which contains 237 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Wakas South ranks 173rd by 2020 population.
