Barangay Upon

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Upon is one of the administrative divisions of Pinili in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Upon had a population of 586. This made it the 15th largest of 25 barangays in Pinili by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Upon accounted for approximately 3.32% of the total population of Pinili, which stood at 17,626 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Upon moving from 577 residents to 586 residents, an intercensal change of +1.6%. The trajectory indicates a slowly expanding community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Upon as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Pinili is a municipality comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Upon, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Ilocos Norte, which contains 559 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Upon ranks 463rd by 2020 population.
