Barangay Gamot

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Gamot is one of the administrative divisions of Polangui in Albay, Bicol Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Gamot had a population of 1,522. This made it the 22nd largest of 44 barangays in Polangui by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Gamot accounted for approximately 1.71% of the total population of Polangui, which stood at 89,176 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Gamot changed from 1,424 to 1,522, a shift of +6.9% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Polangui. Barangay Gamot is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Polangui is a municipality comprising 44 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Gamot, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
