Barangay Poblacion

Barangay Poblacion is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Polillo, located in the province of Quezon, in the CALABARZON region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 4,262. This made it the 2nd largest of 20 barangays in Polillo by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 13.36% of the total population of Polillo, which stood at 31,908 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Poblacion moving from 4,588 residents to 4,262 residents, an intercensal change of -7.1%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Polillo is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Quezon, which contains 1,242 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion ranks 90th by 2020 population. Quezon is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Like every Philippine barangay, Barangay Poblacion is led by an elected Punong Barangay (barangay captain) supported by seven Sangguniang Barangay members (kagawads), an SK Chairperson, a Barangay Secretary, and a Barangay Treasurer. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
