Barangay Nanga

Situated in Pototan, Iloilo, Barangay Nanga is one of 50 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Nanga had a population of 2,920. This made it the 5th largest of 50 barangays in Pototan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Nanga accounted for approximately 3.73% of the total population of Pototan, which stood at 78,298 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Nanga moving from 2,180 residents to 2,920 residents, an intercensal change of +33.9%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Nanga is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Pototan is a municipality comprising 50 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Nanga, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Iloilo, which contains 1,901 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Nanga ranks 99th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
