Situated in Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur, Barangay Eastern Bobongan is one of 27 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Eastern Bobongan had a population of 933. This made it the 13th largest of 27 barangays in Ramon Magsaysay by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Eastern Bobongan accounted for approximately 3.42% of the total population of Ramon Magsaysay, which stood at 27,280 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 915 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 933 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +2.0%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. Barangay Eastern Bobongan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
