Barangay Bicos

Barangay Bicos is a large barangay in the municipality of Rizal, located in the province of Nueva Ecija, in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bicos had a population of 5,869. This made it the 1st largest of 26 barangays in Rizal by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bicos accounted for approximately 8.36% of the total population of Rizal, which stood at 70,196 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Bicos changed from 4,641 to 5,869, a shift of +26.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Rizal. Barangay Bicos is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Rizal is a municipality comprising 26 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bicos, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Nueva Ecija, which contains 849 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Bicos ranks 70th by 2020 population. Nueva Ecija is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay Bicos is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
